The CIEP sets and demonstrates editorial standards for editorial professionals to make text accurate, clear, and fit for purpose. It has a Code of Practice for all members, designed to “establish standards of best practice for members and associates of the CIEP and to encourage good professional relationships”. Advanced Professional Membership of the CIEP requires evidence of a high degree of competence and substantial experience in copy-editing/proofreading.
